‘Quite Surprising’: CNN’s Harry Enten Says Trump Surging With Men While Harris Doing No Better With Women

CNN senior data reporter Harry Enten said Tuesday that former President Donald Trump is performing far better with men than he did in 2020, while Vice President Kamala Harris is seeing no gains among women compared to President Joe Biden’s performance that year.

Trump is leading Harris by 11% among male voters, while the vice president holds a 15-point advantage over the former president among female voters, according to a recent New York Times/Siena College poll. Enten, on “CNN News Central,” noted it is “quite surprising” that Harris has not improved on Biden’s 2020 margin, based on his own aggregate of data and the Cook Political Report.

“This is the Democrat versus Trump margin, compare … four years ago … Trump won among male voters by just five points. Look at where we stand today. My goodness, gracious, Donald Trump doing considerably better among male voters, up by 12 points,” Enten said. “That’s a seven point swing in Donald Trump’s direction. Keep in mind that seven point swing because I want you to take a look at what’s going on with female voters.”

“What do you see here? There is no swing, nothing’s going on, there is no change from where we were four years ago, right? Biden versus Trump, Biden won them by 13. Look where Harris leads in the polls right now, by 13,” he added. “The idea that women would be supporting a Democrat isn’t so surprising, while men would be supporting a Republican. Again, not surprising, but the fact that we’ve seen this movement among male voters, and there has been no movement whatsoever among female voters that, my friends, is quite surprising. It’s something honestly I wasn’t really expecting until I actually looked at the numbers, which is I guess why you have me on.”

Trump is also leading Harris by 17% with Hispanic men who are under 45, while Harris is leading Trump with black men under 45 by 42%, according to the most recent New York Times/Siena College poll. Enten expressed surprise Monday at the degree to which “young black men” have increasingly been abandoning the Democratic Party over multiple elections against Trump.

Moreover, Trump has recently taken the lead among white women by 2% after Harris held a six-point advantage among them in September. The former president currently holds slim leads over Harris in all seven main battleground states except Wisconsin, where she has a small advantage, according to the RealClearPolling averages.
