Stephen Colbert Claims The Only Stupid Southerners Are The Ones Working For Trump

Comedian Stephen Colbert claimed the only stupid southerners are the ones willing to work for President Donald Trump, Wednesday on “The Late Show.”
“At one meeting, Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis struggled to convince the president to keep troops in South Korea. Afterwards, Mattis told associates ‘That the president acted like— and had the understanding of— a fifth- or sixth-grader,'” Colbert said.
“It’s all in the hit new game show, ‘Are you smarter than the president?’ The show where everyone’s a winner.”
Colbert pivoted to Bob Woodward’s new book “Fear: Trump in The White House,” and said Woodward claimed Trump mocked Attorney General Jeff Sessions for his southern accent.
“The book also has new examples of Trump mercilessly mocking everybody around him, at one point mocking Sessions’ accent,” Colbert continued. “Trump said, ‘He’s this dumb southerner.'”
“As a South Carolinian, that is a hurtful stereotype, sir,” Colbert concluded. “Not all southerners are dumb. Just the ones willing to work for you.”
