Human feet mysteriously keep washing up on Canadian beaches, with 13 found so far in the past decade, according to a Tuesday report.
Beachgoers are receiving startling surprises due to human feet turning up on Canadian beaches, reported The New York Times. The total over the past 10 years has now reached 13, after the most recent foot was found Thursday by a man walking his dog in British Columbia, reported CNN. The mangled foot was still in a shoe, with remains of the tibia and fibula bones.
“Our early analysis suggests these are human remains and we will do further investigation and testing … in the coming weeks,” Andy Watson, a spokesman for the BC Coroners Service, said regarding the discovery. Despite the pattern of feet floating ashore, Watson added, “there is no reason to believe that they [the cases] were connected in any way.”
The Royal Canadian Mountain Police (RCMP) and the Coroners Service are working on determining the identity of the foot and cause of death. Eight of the other feet were identified, Time reported.
