President Donald Trump showed the public Monday just how much bureaucratic red tape stands in the way of building new infrastructure by displaying a massive poster outlining the different steps.
The poster listing all the permits and bureaucratic red tape that stand in the way of a building a new highway. Trump showed off the chart at a town hall meeting with CEOs.

Trump claimed 90 percent of this red-tape could be repealed without compromising safety or environmental protection. He also said any new federally funded infrastructure projects would have to start in 90 days or its supporters wouldn’t get any taxpayer funding.
Building new infrastructure has been made much more difficult by bureaucratic red tape which has absolute mandates protecting endangered species, preserving historic structures, and other well meaning goals. Trump said in the townhall that these goals significantly slow down new infrastructure as they distribute the approval process across numerous federal agencies.
Rebuilding infrastructure enjoys broad public support and could return $5 on each $1 invested into it, according to the American Society of Civil Engineers.
Trump proposed a $1 trillion infrastructure program on the campaign trail. He said much of this money would come from a “fund” that “investors” and “citizens” could invest in. This could create an estimated 2 million new jobs.
