Trump’s tweet echoes his comments to “Fox News Sunday,” when he said, “Look at the F-35 program with the money, the hundreds of billions of dollars.” He elaborated “It’s out of control.”
The Pentagon estimates it will cost nearly $1 trillion to keep the F-35 program functioning over the course of its service life. Trump floated the idea of banning defense officials from working with defense contractors after service saying, “The people that are making these deals for the government, they should never be allowed to go to work for these companies.”
Trump continued on Fox, “You know, they make a deal like that and two or three years later, you see them working for these big companies that made the deal… they should have a lifetime restriction.”
The president-elect also tweeted his displeasure with Boeing’s Air Force One program Friday ,saying the purported $4 billion cost is out of control and would be canceled under his administration.
