  • The Boogaloo Bois is planning an armed demonstration to protest the Richmond City Council’s decision to ban firearms at public events.
  • The leader of the group said that he and the participants will use their Second Amendment Rights to ensure that they are not arrested by law enforcement officials.
  • We always wanted a peaceful revolution but the time for peace is coming to an end very quickly,” the leader told the Daily Caller News Foundation.

The Boogaloo Bois, a right-wing anti-government organization, plans to protest open carry laws in Richmond, Virginia, on Monday, and its leader said that the group will use its Second Amendment rights if law enforcement attempts to arrest members.

The group has previously protested in the city and has “disobeyed and broke” open carry laws in Richmond, self-described leader of “the largest branch of the Boogaloo Bois” Mike Dunn told the Daily Caller News Foundation. Dunn said the city banned the open carry of firearms on Sept. 8.

“They continue to tread upon our constitutional rights, without it we’re done. We always wanted a peaceful revolution but the time for peace is coming to an end very quickly,” Dunn told the DCNF. “We want to keep it peaceful. We want to be peaceful. But they continue to push and push and tread upon our rights and we’re not going to stand by.”

Dunn said his Second Amendment rights protect his choice to confront any law enforcement if they attempt to arrest members of the group, he told the DCNF.

Dunn said that “my members, my boys understand that nobody gets arrested and that means nobody gets arrested. If the policemen will serve us and try to arrest us we’ll defend ourselves,” he told the DCNF.

“We’ll defend ourselves. We’ll use the 2nd amendment the way it was intended to prevent government overreach,” Dunn told the DCNF. When asked if he could elaborate on how the group might confront law enforcement, Dunn told the DCNF “I’ll leave that to your imagination.”

Dunn does not believe that law enforcement will enforce the open carry regulation so the group will “punk the entire police department,” he told the DCNF. The Richmond City Council voted to ban the open carry of firearms at public events on Sept. 8, 2020, VPM News reported.

“It means the police department will stand down. They won’t do nothing,” Dunn told the DCNF. “They haven’t touched Black Lives Matter when we’ve been down there defending them and they’re not going to touch us when we’ve been down here by ourselves.”

Dunn said that the group has attempted to talk with Virginia state officials, though they “haven’t listened” in the last “100 years,” Dunn told the DCNF.

“Show up, show out and spit in the face of tyranny by open carrying and disobeying,” Dunn told the DCNF.

Dunn said “a little over” 4,000 Boogaloo Boys are active across the U.S., though it’s unclear how many active chapters exist across the states.

“I’m a Boogaloo Boi, I lead the largest branch of the Boogaloo Boys,” Dunn told the DCNF. “We’ve held an event or protest that should be permitted, and we’ve broken it.”

Dunn was seen Sunday night with two other men open carrying firearms outside the Capital Ale House in downtown Richmond. Dunn was carrying a modified AR-300 blackout.

“We’ve defied them repeatedly and we’re doing it again tomorrow,” Dunn told the DCNF.
