Oklahoma veteran Cody Nichols received a donation of $15,000 worth of equipment one month after being robbed to help keep his landscape business up and running.
Nichols served in the Marines and is the owner and operator of “Our Troops Services.” He works out of Tulsa and has been hiring other veterans to work on landscaping and construction projects, according to Tulsa World.
Among other tools, he was given a brand new red Toro riding mower, Tulsa World reported.
“I can’t believe what just happened,” Nichols told Tulsa World. “We’re going to survive. I really thought our company was going to die.”
The non-profit “Soldier’s Wish” sent representatives to see Nichols on Friday to replace the stolen equipment with brand new items. Tony Heineman, who is the Soldier’s Wish advancement and development officer, said he found out about the robbery and sprung into action.
“People came out of the woodwork wanting to help,” Heineman told Tulsa World. “We were able to raise the money to replace everything.”
“We’d started the year strong, adding new customers,” Nichols said. “We were barely keeping up as it was. Then this happened.”
