Designer Puts Men In Hoop Skirts At Fashion Show

Clothing just got weirder after a Scottish fashion designer put men in hoop skirts during his spring 2019 fashion show Monday.
Charles Jeffrey, 27, the designer of the fashion label LOVERBOY truly mixed up gender norms by dressing his male models in a variety of colorful prints, including hoop skirts, Vogue reported. Jeffrey’s fashion show in London was meant to take a new spin on athleisure, which the fashion designer usually steers clear of, according to The Guardian. The designer also incorporated gender fluid people by purposely making the models hardly discernible if they were male or female.
“Loverboy’s Charles Jeffrey is a dyed-in-the-wool iconoclast. So it was surprising to see him adapt the hoop skirt for men (and women) in his Spring 2019 collection; this constraining garment seems contrary to the designer’s free-to-be-you-and-me ethos,” wrote Laird Borrelli-Persson for Vogue magazine.
