The first images of the planned Donald J. Trump Presidential Library in Miami were revealed late Monday, detailing a long-anticipated endeavor to preserve and teach the legacy of the 45th and 47th chief executive of the United States.

Eric Trump, the executive vice president of the Trump Organization, posted a 100-second video to X highlighting a concept design of the planned presidential library honoring his father. The video guides viewers through various museum spaces envisioned to tell the story of Trump’s path to and leadership in the White House. The Florida-based international architecture and engineering firm Bermello, Ajamil & Partners, LLC is credited with the “landmark” design to be constructed along the Miami waterfront overooking Biscayne Bay.

“Over the past six months, I have poured my heart and soul into this project with my incredible team at @Trump. This landmark on the water in Miami, Florida will stand as a lasting testament to an amazing man, an amazing developer, and the greatest President our Nation has ever known,” Eric Trump wrote. “These images have never been seen by the public — until today. Enjoy!”

The video shows a sweeping collection of tributes to Trump’s projected legacy. Set near a large marina and colonnade of palm trees, a golden entrance to the proposed skyscraper — adorned with the American flag, a large image of the presidential seal, as well as the iconic “TRUMP” name — opens into a large foyer featuring a Boeing 747 plane perceived to have served as Air Force One, in addition to a VH-92A helicopter presumed to have served as Marine One.

A towering golden statue of Trump can also be seen in a rendering of a packed auditorium. A rooftop terrace and a pair of escalators — also exhibiting the president’s preferred golden color palette — offer visitors a heightened perspective and access to upper levels of the library. Replicas of the Trump-designed White House West Wing Colonnade, Rose Garden, and Oval Office, as well as the proposed state ballroom, are likewise shown to be points of interest to those learning about the famous New York real estate developer who was twice-elected commander in chief.

“President Trump is one of the most consequential and successful presidents in American history — a leader who has fought tirelessly to deliver for the forgotten men and women of this country and Make America Great Again,” White House spokesman Davis Ingle told the Daily Caller News Foundation. “The Trump Presidential Library will be one of the most magnificent buildings in the world and a living testament to the indelible impact President Trump has made on America and its people.”

Congress passed the Presidential Libraries Act in 1955, which created a system of privately established and federally overseen libraries. The Act encouraged presidents to donate their historical materials to the government for preservation and future accessibility. The Presidential Libraries Act of 1986 later required private endowments to share the cost of each facility’s maintenance.

The library received a significant fundraising boost of $15 million following a December 2024 settlement of a civil defamation case Trump filed against ABC News. In addition, a January 2025 settlement of a case with Meta Platforms involving the suspension of Trump’s Facebook accounts following the January 6 Capitol riot garnered another $22 million for the project. A similar lawsuit with X was settled for about $10 million in February 2025, earning the library another infusion, albeit split with legal fees. Paramount Global similarly settled with Trump in July 2025 for $16 million after its CBS News was accused of favorably editing a “60 Minutes” interview of then-Vice President Kamala Harris, the failed 2024 Democratic presidential candidate.

Democratic lawmakers have sought to press Big Tech CEOs about the terms amd conditions of their respective settlements with Trump, as well the status of the funds. In September 2025, the original Donald J. Trump Presidential Library Fund, created to receive donations in December 2024, “was administratively dissolved by Florida’s Department of State after the organization failed to submit a mandatory annual report,” their March 12, 2026, press release states. The funds were eventually transferred to Donald J. Trump Presidential Library Foundation, Inc., which was incorporated separately from the now-defunct entity but maintains the same mission. It hopes to raise $1 billion, The Miami Herald reported, citing tax filings it reviewed.

The Foundation in 2025 paid $3 million for “architecture and engineering,” $2 million for “other building costs,” $500,000 for “design,” and about $250,000 for “site evaluation & planning,” the outlet also reported.

The Donald J. Trump Presidential Library currently exists as a digital entity administered by the National Archives and Records Administration; it will become NARA’s 15th such managed asset once construction concludes. It launched Jan. 20, 2021, the last day of Trump’s first term in office, providing public access to records of the 45th president. Having been elected to serve two nonconsecutive terms, Trump will continue to amass official records and other potential items for exhibition as the library moves closer to construction.

In anticipation of the library’s construction, the Florida Cabinet, acting on a proposal from Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis, voted in September 2025 to transfer 2.63 acres of land from the campus of Miami Dade College to the Trump Presidential Library Foundation. After a subsequent two-month injunction, a Florida judge dismissed a complaint by local activist Marvin Dunn that the College did not provide enough time for public comment on the proposed transaction. A 2025 assessment by the Miami-Dade County property appraiser valued the land at $67 million, The Associate Press reported.

The presidential library of Joe Biden is currently in the planning and fundraising phase and is expected to be located in Delaware. The 19-acre, $850-million library of Barack Obama is preparing for a June 18, 2026, grand opening in Chicago. George W. Bush dedicated his in Dallas in April 2013. His father, George H.W. Bush, dedicated his in College Station, Texas in November 1997. Bill Clinton opened his in Little Rock, Ark. in November 2004. Ronald Reagan dedicated his in Simi Valley, Calif. in November 1991.
