Boston College history professor Heather Cox Richardson accused President Donald Trump and his administration of attempting to build concentration camps and strip women of their right to vote in a Thursday episode of “Politics Chat.”

Richardson is a frequent critic of Republicans and routinely amplifies baseless claims, having previously alleged Charlie Kirk’s assassin was “far right.” On March 12, she told her 2.8 million Substack subscribers that the SAVE America Act, which Trump supports, intends to disenfranchise women amid what she called immigration and customs enforcement (ICE) efforts to put people in camps.

Richardson focused most of her podcast episode on the Trump-backed election integrity law, alleging that requiring proof of citizenship to vote in elections would make it harder for women to vote.

“What they’re really trying to do here is to make sure that women, who tend to vote Democratic, and people who can’t line up their birth certificates with their names — that’s women — or people that don’t have passports won’t be able to vote,” Richardson said.

“You keep asking me, should you be concerned? 100%. Make sure you and your friends are registered, because they are knocking people off … registrations right and left,” Richardson continued. “I’m not that concerned that the SAVE Act is going to pass, because it would take destroying the filibuster in the Senate.”

“Keep up on these concentration camps and these giant buildings they’re trying to construct, which by the way are getting stopped by local zoning laws. Find your lane, and do what you can in it,” Richardson said after criticizing the Trump administration’s immigration policy.

“Just a shout out to the people who are out there every day in the Visibility Brigade, the Card Campaign. Also the artists and musicians that are keeping us going,” the podcaster continued, praising groups she credited with halting ICE’s supposed camp construction efforts. Both organizations coordinate anti-Trump protests.

“Once that door is opened, the horse is out of the barn. There’s … no putting the genie back in the bottle,” Senate Majority Leader John Thune previously told the Daily Caller News Foundation when asked about calls to end the filibuster. In addition to fearing later Democratic reprisals, Thune emphasized that there are not enough Republican votes to end the practice.

“For the Republicans, it’s the only thing that will stop them from making sure Democrats don’t push through common-sense gun safety legislation,” Richardson said. “For the Democrats, it’s the only thing that they’ve got that will enable them to do things like making sure people don’t lose the right to vote.”
