Former Vice President Kamala Harris raved over protesters impeding immigration enforcement operations during a discussion posted to YouTube on Feb. 24.
Harris’ conversation was with American Federation of Teachers (AFT) President Randi Weingarten and posted to Share My Lesson’s YouTube channel. The former vice president said it was “fantastic” and “beautiful” to witness protesters in Minneapolis, Minnesota, using whistles to impede Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations.

“In Minneapolis, just look at what we’ve been seeing. It’s so fantastic!” Harris exclaimed. “People coming out with their whistles, their smart phones and videotaping, and, you know, with perfect strangers and aiding perfect strangers! It’s been so beautiful to see!”
Harris then rambled about the importance of “power in numbers.”
“And again, this is what I mean about: ‘We have the light inside of us.’ Like, let’s — we got to focus on this, which is that when people band together and we remember the strength of community and we remember the strength of coalition, and the power in, you know, it’s cliché, the power in the numbers, right?” the former vice president said.
“[T]he power of numbers — like that’s part of just that age,” she added. “We teach that to kids, right?”
The whistles are intended to notify neighbors about the presence of federal law enforcement agents and alert residents for possible immigration raids, according to MinnPost.
Minneapolis became the center of national attention after the fatal shootings of Renee Good and Alex Pretti by ICE and Border Patrol agents in January. Border czar Tom Homan ultimately announced an end to Operation Metro Surge on Feb. 12, asserting that thousands of federal agents would leave Minnesota.
Harris also advocated to abolish deportations during a 2018 Los Angeles parade.
“Up, up with education. Down, down with deportation,” the then-California senator chanted alongside a crowd, according to video first obtained by the Daily Mail.
Moreover, Harris previously promoted a bail fund that released men then accused of rioting, sex offenses and beating women during the height of the Black Lives Matter (BLM) riots in June 2020.
