Liberal-Leaning Caller Wants Democrats To Oust Members Who Prioritize Illegals Over Citizens

A video caller who said she leaned slightly liberal expressed a desire for Democrats to remove party members who didn’t put Americans first during Wednesday’s edition of “The Morning Meeting with Mark Halperin.”

Democrats remained seated when President Donald Trump asked members of Congress to rise if they agreed that the top “duty of the American government is to protect American citizens, not illegal aliens” during his Tuesday State of the Union address. The caller said on the show that she wanted all politicians to answer whether they “like” America, “love” America and “prioritize [their] citizens above all else.”

“I think every country should demand that of their leaders. Those three questions. And I actually lean a little liberal. Not 100%. I’m more middle of the road, but I wish that the Democrats would oust the people in their party that can’t answer yes to those three questions,” the caller said. “A lot of Democrats, absolutely, they love this country, they like the United States and they prioritize us. But particularly in the progressive wing, there’s a lot where you go, do you even like this country? What are you fighting for? Are you just fighting to fight?”

While Trump chided lawmakers who did not stand when he asked them to rise if they agreed with his statement on defending Americans rather than illegal immigrants, Democratic Reps. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota and Rashida Tlaib of Michigan shouted at him.

“[Democrats] are blocking the removal of these people out of our country and you should be ashamed of yourself,” Trump said while they yelled.

Moreover, numerous Democrats did not rise in support of the families of Laken Riley and Jocelyn Nungaray — who were both killed by illegal immigrants under former President Joe Biden’s administration — during Trump’s speech to a joint session of Congress in March 2025.

NewsNation host Chris Cuomo also said that Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and other left-wing politicians had conducted themselves as though they disliked the United States during a Dec. 2 episode of “The Chris Cuomo Project.”

“I don’t believe AOC — any of your horses — I have a hard time believing they love the country,” Cuomo told progressive YouTuber Brian Tyler Cohen.

“I think they hate more about it than they love about it. And that may be unfair,” he added. “But if it is unfair, it’s because of how they’ve made their own case about themselves.”

Furthermore, CNN chief data analyst Harry Enten said on “CNN News Central” Feb. 10 that Republicans were still proud of being American, while Democrats’ pride was at an all-time low. He said Democrats’ pride in their American identity plunged from 83% in 2013 to 31% in late 2025, citing a PPRI survey.
