Comedian Adam Carolla said on “The Adam Carolla Show” Sunday that former President Barack Obama was a “word salad warlock” following his rant on homelessness.

Obama discussed homelessness in Los Angeles, California, during an interview with left-wing podcast host Brian Tyler Cohen published on Saturday. After watching a clip of Obama’s remarks during his show, Carolla compared Obama to Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and former Vice President Kamala Harris, calling them “dumb word salad people,” while arguing the former president was talented.

“He’s a skilled word salad guy. So AOC and Kamala Harris are dumb word salad people where you see — so it’s like there are no actual warlocks,” Carolla said. “There’s clumsy magicians and skilled magicians, but no one’s actually magical. Yeah. So the really skilled ones make you think they’re warlocks. And he’s a skilled one. They don’t do anything, and they don’t possess any power, but they’re skilled. So he’s a warlock of word salad.”

“He’s a word salad warlock, where AOC and Kamala just got one of those home magic kits that they bought the weekend before and are clumsily trying to fumble through … They’re word salad, but it’s not working … But they’re both talking about nothing all the time,” he added. “He’s just skillfully talking about nothing. So he’s a word salad warlock, and they’re 12-year-olds who got Marshall Brodien’s kit from online and is practicing magic at home using the rubber bands.”

California’s homeless population was about 187,000, according to Housing and Urban Development (HUD) data published in December 2024. The state holds the nation’s largest homeless population.

“I think morally, ethically speaking, it is an atrocity that in a country this wealthy, we have people just on the streets,” Obama said in the interview. “And we should insist on policies that recognize their full humanity, people who are houseless, and be able to provide them the help and resources that they need.”

“But we should also recognize that the average person doesn’t want to have to navigate around a tent city in the middle of downtown, and that we’re not going to be able to build a working majority and support for the resources that we need to help folks like that, whether it’s drug treatment or temporary housing or what have you,” he added. “We’re not going to be able to generate support for it if we simply say, you know what, it’s not their fault and so they should be able to do whatever they want, because that’s a losing political strategy.”

Moreover, Cohen asked Obama, “Are aliens real?” as part of a lightning round during the interview. The former president replied in the affirmative.

However, Obama issued a clarification on Sunday.

“I was trying to stick with the spirit of the speed round, but since it’s gotten attention let me clarify,” the 44th president wrote. “Statistically, the universe is so vast that the odds are good there’s life out there. But the distances between solar systems are so great that the chances we’ve been visited by aliens is low, and I saw no evidence during my presidency that extraterrestrials have made contact with us.”
