President Donald Trump announced he is sending White House border czar Tom Homan to Minnesota in a Truth Social post on Monday, days after a second fatal shooting by federal law enforcement.

The Truth Social post stated that Homan will be sent “tonight” and will report directly to the president. The announcement comes amidst ongoing Minnesota protests following the shootings of Renee Good and Alex Pretti during confrontations with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection.

“I am sending Tom Homan to Minnesota tonight. He has not been involved in that area, but knows and likes many of the people there,” the president wrote. “Tom is tough but fair, and will report directly to me.”

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt announced on X that Homan would “be managing ICE operations on the ground in Minnesota to continue arresting the worst of the worst criminal illegal aliens.”

Leavitt wrote that Homan would also coordinate with investigators on “massive, widespread fraud” in the state.

The Trump administration froze childcare payments to Minnesota following YouTuber Nick Shirley’s investigation into multiple Somali-owned daycare centers receiving state funds, despite not having any children present.

Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem wrote on X that Homan’s assignment is “good news for peace, safety, and accountability in Minneapolis.”

“I have worked closely with Tom over the last year,” Noem continued, “and he has been a major asset to our team.”
