SiriusXM host Stephen A. Smith condemned Democratic California Gov. Gavin Newsom on “Straight Shooter with Stephen A” Wednesday for criticizing President Donald Trump in Switzerland.
Newsom attacked Trump while at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos on Tuesday, telling Europeans that America’s president is “a T-Rex” and claiming, “You mate with him or he devours you.” Smith said on his show that he was fine with Newsom denouncing Trump in the United States, but Americans should not air grievances about their own nation while abroad.

“Respectfully, what are you doing? You’re the governor of the state of California in the United States of America,” Smith said. “Why are you over in Davos, Switzerland, talking to folks and speaking negatively about the president of the United States?”
Smith then played audio of Newsom criticizing Trump’s Davos speech.
“I have no problem with Gavin Newsom being candid and open about his feelings about our president on United States soil,” he said. “To go over to another country, Switzerland, to go over there and to be in the presence of other European leaders speaking against the president of the United States — I’m not down with that. Y’all might be. I’m not down with that at all.”
“Say whatever you want here as a governor from the opposite side of the aisle of a state in the United States on American soil. Fine,” he added. “But I’m one of those people — when we go somewhere else, it’s America first. You know, our problems, yeah, are our problems, but we ain’t taking dirty laundry outside.”
Moreover, Smith criticized Newsom for his unwillingness to answer whether boys can become girls during a Jan. 15 episode of “This Is Gavin Newsom.”
“See, that kind of stuff can’t be associated with the Democratic party,” he said. “I’m telling you right now: you associate that stuff with the Democratic party, I’m telling you, you’re going to lose the midterms.”
ABC late-night host Jimmy Kimmel also gave a four-minute Christmas speech to Britain’s Channel 4 in which he decried Trump’s America.
“I honestly have no idea what’s going on over there,” Kimmel said. “I do know what’s going on over here, though, and I can tell you that from a fascism perspective, this has been a really great year. Tyranny is booming over here.”
