A staffer at the Somali daycare center with a misspelled name in Minnesota snapped at a New York Post reporter on Monday for asking him about fraud allegations.
YouTuber Nick Shirley released a now-viral documentary alleging that nearly a dozen taxpayer-funded daycare centers run by Somalis across the state are not actually providing any services. A staffer at the Quality of Learing Center, which misspelled “learning,” cursed at the reporter who asked him to respond to allegations of fraud occurring at the center.
“What’s your response to the allegations? Is there fraud going on here?” the reporter asked.
“Get the fuck out of here,” the employee said, refusing to answer any questions.

Shirley found that the center appeared to be inactive despite being licensed to care for 99 children. He stated that the center received $1.9 million in 2025 and $4 million in total funding from Minnesota’s Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP).
Ali Ibrahim, the son of the center’s owner, told the Post that Shirley visited the property outside of regular business hours.
“I do feel like what was done was someone came to our building outside of operating hours. We have a specific sign on our door that says our days and our hours. [They] came outside of those hours and then claimed, ‘Hey, they’re closed, and they’re still making money.'”
The Minnesota Department of Children, Youth and Families Commissioner Tikki Brown said investigations into these centers have not uncovered any fraud.
Reports of wide-scale fraud being committed by Somalis in Minnesota have recently gained national attention. Federal prosecutors announced in December that dozens of defendants, most of whom are Somali American, have been charged for allegedly stealing over $9 billion in federal funds intended for social programs, including those that feed vulnerable children.
Seventy-eight defendants have been charged with stealing over $350 million from Feeding Our Future, a federal child nutrition program.
Following Shirley’s documentary, Democratic Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz said on Sunday that his office launched investigations into the facilities in question to “crack down on fraud.” State officials have accused Walz of bearing responsibility for the fraud by “willfully” disregarding “rules and laws to keep fraud reports quiet.”
