Democratic Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett lavished praise on former special counsel Jack Smith during an interview on former MS NOW host Katie Phang’s YouTube channel posted on Thursday.

Smith gave closed-door testimony to the House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday, addressing both his classified documents case and his 2020 election case against President Donald Trump. Crockett spent five minutes of the interview detailing her rosy view of Smith’s performance during his testimony.

“Donald Trump never wants to go up against Jack Smith … Jack Smith was the right choice … I can’t imagine anyone who was better equipped to actually sift through all of this, as well as anyone who was as unafraid as he was to do this,” Crockett said. “It is really a shame that these cases never got to trial. I think that it would have been beyond illuminating … it was just so illuminating to hear and see what I personally believe to be the epitome of a federal prosecutor.”

“I know a good lawyer when one is there. And I am telling you, I’m like, ‘Mhm.’ Like, as he was talking, I’m sitting there like, ‘Mhm.’ … the majority was attempting to, like, really shake him up, and they was on some nonsense, and, you know, it was a lot that the majority was trying to do, and he was unfazed,” she added. “And I was just like, ‘Okay, yeah, like this is a boss.”

Crockett claimed that Smith was completely unbiased.

“He is so what you would want a prosecutor to be. These are the facts. No political nothing. These are the facts. Like, it don’t matter who it is. These are the facts,” she said. “Like, I’m just sticking to the facts … the amount of respect that I had for him just kind of went through the roof, being able to be in there and also observing his demeanor. He is cool as a cucumber. I’m feisty, but, you know, I’m usually having to fight to defend somebody’s life, so, you know, it makes sense, right? But like, he is cool as a cucumber.”

“No matter how ridiculous the Republicans want to be, his demeanor is amazing … he really is a very credible person,” she added. “And I think that they fear that he could produce more problems for the president just in him being a truth teller.”

During his testimony, Smith defended his decision to secretly subpoena Republican lawmakers’ cell phone data as part of the “Arctic Frost” investigation, asserting they were “lawfully subpoenaed and were relevant to complete a comprehensive investigation,” according to CBS News.

The former special counsel will soon launch his own law firm with other former prosecutors who assisted him in targeting Trump.
