Salem Radio Network host Scott Jennings called out Democratic Rep. Jared Moskowitz of Florida Monday over his vote against a continuing resolution that would’ve averted a government shutdown.
The federal government entered a partial shutdown on Oct. 1 due to the Senate failing to pass a continuing resolution after the House of Representatives approved the short-term funding bill on Sept. 19, with Moskowitz joining most Democrats in voting against the measure. During a panel discussion on “CNN NewsNight,” Moskowitz discussed Republicans removing then-House Speaker Kevin McCarthy in October 2023, while also complaining about people in his district who relied on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) missing their benefits before Jennings cut in.
“I didn’t vote for that CR. Scott might remember, Republicans didn’t vote for the CR previously, the same CR in different years. In fact, Republicans removed a speaker of the House, we forget about that, because he put a CR on the floor. So —” Moskowitz claimed, before Jennings cut in, asking, “But you did vote against the SNAP benefits that —”

“I did not vote against the SNAP benefits,” Moskowitz claimed, even though the only House Democrat who voted for the continuing resolution on Sept. 19 was Rep. Jared Golden of Maine, causing Jennings to respond, “If you had voted for the CR, would we have SNAP right now?”
Two federal judges ordered the Trump administration to use emergency funds to continue SNAP, which would have run out of money Saturday. Moskowitz repeated Democratic demands for the continuation of enhanced payouts for Obamacare.
“I got 25,000 people in my district that are going to lose their health insurance because this CR did have —” Moskowitz claimed before Jennings cut in, asking, “And how many do you have are going to lose their SNAP?”
Moskowitz then attempted to raise Trump’s financial aid package to Argentina as an issue. After some further back and forth, Moskowitz attempted to cite polling data.
“Democrats have repeatedly voted to give zero of SNAP benefits. I’m sorry, this is not — this whole thing could have been averted if Democrats had done what they did in March, which is vote for Joe Biden’s budget levels. They have refused to do it,” Jennings told Moskowitz. “A couple of Democrats in the Senate, like John Fetterman, have shown some courage and backbone. But the bottom line is this party is enthralled to the radical left.”
“That’s why they’ve changed their position from March until now,” Jennings continued. “And that’s why people are not getting their SNAP benefits. It’s why federal law enforcement isn‘t being paid. It’s why Trump’s having to scramble to pay the military. This is a Democratic shutdown because of political fear.”
