A Maryland woman whose husband was murdered told former CNN host Don Lemon during a Baltimore livestream on his YouTube channel Friday that she backed President Donald Trump sending in the National Guard to crack down on crime.
Trump has floated sending the National Guard to Baltimore, asserting it is an “out of control, crime ridden” city. The woman said on Lemon’s channel that the murder occurred two years ago directly in front of her home during a carjacking.

“I’ve been a resident of Maryland all my life, so I think it would help some,” the woman said.
Lemon asked why she believed it would be helpful.
“Coming from a family that was broken up — my husband was murdered two years ago and nothing was ever done,” she said.
“It was a carjacking gone wrong and they shot him in his head,” she added. “Killed him instantly … but again, our lovely mayor didn’t do nothing.”
The woman told Lemon that the murderer was never found.
“So, you want to see it?” Lemon followed up.
“Yes. I want justice,” she replied.
Democratic Maryland Gov. Wes Moore has repeatedly opposed the deployment of the National Guard to mitigate crime. There have been 91 murders and 218 nonfatal shootings in Baltimore in 2025 as of Monday, according to Democratic Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott.
Trump on Aug. 11 deployed the National Guard to Washington, D.C., and invoked Section 40 of the District of Columbia Home Rule Act to combat crime.
Democratic Washington, D.C., Mayor Muriel Bowser expressed gratitude for the increase of officers during an Aug. 27 press conference.
“We greatly appreciate the surge of officers that enhance what MPD has been able to do in this city … for carjackings, the difference between this period, this 20-day period of this federal surge, and last year represents a 87% reduction in carjackings in Washington, D.C.,” Bowser said.
The mayor also issued an order Tuesday continuing Trump’s executive order of federal officers in the district, which local law enforcement will cooperate with.
There were 92 arrests in the nation’s capital on Tuesday night, 40 of which were illegal aliens, a White House official told Daily Caller White House correspondent Reagan Reese on Wednesday. Some of the arrests were for violent crimes, including murder.
The president has also suggested sending the National Guard to tackle violent crime in Chicago, Illinois.
