Former President Barack Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama addressed divorce rumors about them on a Wednesday podcast.

The rumors arose as the former first lady skipped the funeral of late President Jimmy Carter and President Donald Trump’s inauguration in quick succession in January. On “IMO with Michelle Obama & Craig Robinson,” the former first lady asserted she had never even considered divorcing her husband.

As Obama entered the room, he joked, “She took me back!”

“It was touch and go for a while,” he added jokingly.

The former first lady’s co-host and brother, Craig Robinson, quipped that it was great to have the couple “in the same room together.”

Both Obamas responded, “I know.”

“Because when we aren’t, folks think we’re divorced,” the former first lady added.

She later reflected on her marriage with the former president.

“There hasn’t been one moment in our marriage where I thought about quitting on my man. And we’ve had some really hard times … a lot of fun times, a lot of adventures,” she said. “And I have become a better person because of the man I’m married to.”

“Okay, don’t make me cry now, right at the beginning of the show,” the former president responded. “Don’t let me start tearing up now.”

The former first lady also addressed the rumors on “Work in Progress” in April.

“People couldn’t even fathom that I was making a choice for myself … they had to assume that my husband and I are divorcing,” she said. “This couldn’t be a grown woman just making a set of decisions herself, right? But that’s what society does to us.”

Moreover, the former first lady has made remarks on her podcast that have appeared to be negative about her husband.

For instance, in a June episode, she said that she was grateful she only had daughters because a son would have been like the former president.

“I’m so glad I didn’t have a boy, ’cause he would’ve been a Barack Obama” she said, rolling her eyes and sighing in apparent mock relief.
