U.S. Attorney for the Central District of California Bill Essayli skewered Democrat California Gov. Gavin Newsom on Friday for railing against a Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raid of a marijuana farm.

Federal immigration authorities executed a search warrant at a marijuana farm in Camarillo, California, where about 500 protesters quickly resorted to violence and forced law enforcement to use tear gas and smoke bombs as a defense mechanism. After Newsom framed the search as an assault on innocent children, Essayli said that the governor is ignorant to the facts and is creating “hysteria” against ICE agents.

“And just on the governor, he’s extremely an unserious person. He has no idea what’s going on at these locations, he doesn’t know the facts, he instantly just puts out these tweets with no information to create hysteria and drama against our agents,” Essayli said. “He does not care about the welfare of the American people, he does not care about people being exploited, he cares about illegal immigrants. That’s where we are. We have politicians who care more about illegal immigrants than the people of this country.”

Newsom called President Donald Trump “scum” for allowing agents to allegedly make kids run from tear gas and watch their parents be “taken from the fields.”

“Kids running from tear gas, crying on the phone because their mother was just taken from the fields. Trump calls me “Newscum” — but he’s the real scum,” Newsom said in an X post.

Essayli announced that $50,000 will be awarded to anyone with information about an unknown individual who appeared to fire a pistol at federal law enforcement.

Federal agents also conducted a raid at a separate marijuana farm in Ventura County, where law enforcement rescued ten juveniles and eight unaccompanied minors, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Commissioner Rodney Scott stated on Thursday. The farm is currently under investigation for possibly violating child labor laws.

Other Democrats, including Arizona Sen. Ruben Gallego and California Rep. Jimmy Gomez, raged at the raids that took place at the farms and accused the administration of “targeting families” and children. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) scoffed at Democrats for criticizing their intervention in “what looks like exploitation, violation of child labor laws and potentially human trafficking or smuggling.”

Democrat Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass signed a sanctuary order on Friday to prohibit local officials’ cooperation with ICE.
