Piers Morgan Straight Up Tells Transgender Athlete He Is Cheating By Competing Against Females

Piers Morgan told a trans-identifying pickleball player on Monday that he is a “cheat” for competing against female athletes.

The athlete, Sara Weiss, claimed that trans-identifying men competing against women is not a threat, despite there being several instances of women getting seriously injured by male players. Morgan told Weiss that he is “cheating” by “knowingly using a superior biology” against female athletes.

“Sara, why do you want to be a cheat, I mean, seriously,” Morgan said. “Why do you want to be a cheat? That’s what you’re doing. You’re cheating.”

Helen Webberley, a pro-transgender activist, accused Morgan of being “disrespectful,” leading Morgan to explain that his statement “cuts to the heart of the debate.”

“You know what, Dr. Webberley, it really isn’t [disrespectful]. It cuts to the heart of the debate, which is cheating,” Morgan said. “It is knowingly using a superior biology from birth to beat women who were born with female bodies. It is cheating. It is time to call it out for what it is. And Dr. Webberley, the idea that you’re a doctor and don’t think this is about science is breathtaking to me. Breathtaking. Of course it’s about science.”

“I’m a doctor, I’m a human being, I’m a compassionate person,” Webberley pushed back, prompting Morgan to ask why she is not “compassionate” toward women athletes. “I don’t understand why you have this huge thing where we have to [have] one single woman being affected by these terrible transpeople. What about inclusion? We are living in a world where we want everybody to unite together.”

Morgan explained that he is standing up against the “erosion” of women’s rights in athletics, particularly as female athletes have suffered injuries and have unfairly lost the competition when forced to compete against men. He told Weiss that male athletes like himself are making a “mockery” of trans-identifying people by forcing females to compete against them.

Weiss dodged Morgan’s question on whether he would respect National Basketball Association (NBA) star LeBron James if he began competing against women basketball players.

“It’s not a simple black and white and grey question,” Weiss said.

“Actually, it really is,” Morgan pushed back. “And the fact that you can’t answer it … So you’re saying it would not be wrong for LeBron James to compete against women.”

Webberley accurately stated that James is not a woman, but then criticized Morgan for bringing up that James is a “biological” male. Morgan explained to the medical doctor that an individual born with XX chromosomes is a female, while those born with XY chromosomes are male.

Among the female athletes who have suffered injuries from male athletes are Payton McNabb, a 19-year-old volleyball player who suffered from a brain bleed, a traumatic brain injury, partial paralysis and loss of peripheral vision on her right side after being hit in the head with a ball spiked by a male athlete in April 2023.

Many of these athletes, who have worked their whole lives to achieve success in a given sport, have been defeated by male athletes who did not perform well in the men’s competitions. Male swimmer Lia Thomas, who ranked 544th in the men’s competition, became a top-ranked swimmer in the women’s competition at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Women’s Championships in March 2022.
