An MSNBC reporter and host spent nearly three minutes Tuesday denigrating FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino for allocating resources to pursue three high-profile cases left unsolved during the Biden administration.

Bongino announced an increased effort to look into the cases surrounding pipe bombs planted around the headquarters of both the Republican National Committee and the Democratic National Committee on Jan. 6, 2021, the May 2022 leak of a draft of the Supreme Court opinion in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Center and the cocaine found in the White House in July 2023. MSNBC host Ana Cabrera allowed MSNBC reporter Ken Dilanian to describe Bongino and FBI Director Kash Patel as “men who have fomented conspiracy theories.”

“There’s a huge subtext here,” Dilanian claimed. “The FBI is being led by two men who have fomented conspiracy theories that they are now being called on to deliver by MAGA supporters.”

“For months, Dan Bongino, before he was the deputy FBI director, was telling people that the pipe bomb case was an inside job, that the FBI was lying about it, that they actually knew who did it and they were telling the public they didn’t,” Dilanian added after playing a clip of Bongino. “Since he’s gotten into power and taken over the job, he hasn’t said any of that, but he’s now being called upon by MAGA followers to deliver on this and other conspiracy theories.”

The leak of the draft opinion for the Dobbs ruling led to protests outside the homes of the justices as well as a string of violent attacks and vandalism targeting pro-life groups, crisis pregnancy centers and churches. Police arrested a man armed with a handgun, knife and other burglary tools who told them he wanted to kill Justice Brett Kavanaugh over potential rulings in cases on abortion and gun rights early in the morning of June 8, 2022.

The Secret Service confirmed that a quantity of cocaine was discovered in the White House prior to July 4, 2023, shortly after Hunter Biden, the son of then-President Joe Biden, visited the White House.

“This is their way of throwing them a bone, saying, here are three controversial cases that we think may have links to Democratic misconduct or Biden-era misconduct and we’re going to amp up our investigations of those,” Dilanian claimed.

Patel and Bongino did not immediately respond to a request for comment from the Daily Caller News Foundation.
