Fox News host Lawrence Jones criticized officials Thursday over a press conference he called “one of the worst” he had seen following a terrorist attack in New Orleans, saying officials failed to provide information.

Authorities say 42-year-old Shamsud Din Jabbar drove a Ford pickup truck into revelers in New Orleans early Wednesday morning before police fatally shot him in a gunfight, killing at least 15 people and wounding dozens of others. Jones told “Fox and Friends” guest co-hosts Sandra Smith and Griff Jenkins that there was a “massive” lack of information.

“That was one of the worst press conferences I ever saw in my life. I don’t care if you have an R or a D at the end of your name, just trust us is not sufficient,” Jones said. “You can’t have a state of emergency and have four people, three or four people out there, saying everything is fine going to be fine, the security measures are in place.”

“Then you got the AG saying she is not being briefed by the FBI. So I understand wanting to inspire confidence in people and not let the terrorists win,” Jones said. “But you don’t let them win by preventing attacks from happening and the information void is massive right now and we’ll see what happens. I want to give them the benefit of the doubt and give them time to bring this all together, but it’s just not providing information, it is sufficient answers, and they haven’t been able to do that.”

The FBI initially did not label the attack in New Orleans as a terrorist attack, the Times of India reported. The agency later reversed course in a statement issued Wednesday.

President Joe Biden said in a Wednesday evening address that authorities found a flag tied to the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) in the truck Jabbar used in the attack and that the suspect had posted videos declaring he had been inspired by the radical Islamic terrorist group.
