Michigan voter votes for Trump for first time.
A voter in Michigan who once supported former President Barack Obama said Tuesday that he cast his ballot for Republican nominee Donald Trump after not voting in the past two elections.
Josh Pangle, the voter from Grand Rapids, Michigan, said he supported Trump due to being a blue collar worker who supports tax cuts and is critical of the current state of the economy under President Joe Biden. The former president pledged to end taxes on overtime work, Social Security and tips if he is re-elected president.
“I guess it would have to do with being a blue collar worker, and I knew that one of the things he said he was gonna do was cut taxes for overtime, so that’s how I make a lot of my money, so that was probably the main driving force,” he said.
Pangle said he had never voted for Trump in the past, adding that the last candidate he voted for was Obama.
“Did you vote for Trump in the past in 2016 and 2020?” a CNN reporter asked.
“I didn’t … I think Obama was the last person I voted for, I won’t lie,” Pangle replied.
A voter who previously supported President Joe Biden told CNN Tuesday that he voted for Trump because he felt “deceived” by the current administration, citing the economy as one of the main issues he supported the former president.
