'You Have To Answer': Frank Luntz Says Harris Didn't Address Key Question During Fox News Interview
Pollster Frank Luntz asserted on Thursday that Vice President Kamala Harris failed to address a necessary question during her Wednesday interview on Fox News.
Harris appeared on Fox News’ “Special Report with Bret Baier” for her first formal interview on the network, where host Bret Baier pressed her on the border crisis, among other topics. Luntz, on “CNN News Central,” suggested Harris fell short of explaining why the crisis has intensified under the Biden-Harris administration.

“To me, the issue is did she answer the questions that people care about most, on immigration and on prices, on affordability? And I don’t think that her answers were of the scope that people were looking for,” Luntz said. “Specifically, what would you do at the border? Do you take responsibility for what happened? And most importantly, what are you going to do in the future?”
“Now, it was contentious, and Bret jumped on her several times for not being clear and concise. For her efforts, she did,” he continued. “She was clear about her views towards immigration in general and specifically the border, but in the end, you have to answer the question, ‘Why did it get this way?’ And I don’t feel like she gave that answer.”
During the interview, Harris acknowledged “that we have a broken immigration system that needs to be repaired,” but did not address the effect of the administration’s rollback of former President Donald Trump’s “Remain in Mexico” policy, which had required migrants to stay in Mexico while awaiting their U.S. asylum claims.
Baier argued that the Biden-Harris administration’s policy shift contributed to the release of many single adult men who later committed crimes. Harris responded by underscoring the comprehensive approach taken by the administration.
The number of recorded illegal border crossings has plunged in the past few months following an executive order from President Joe Biden limiting border entries, according to the most recent Customs and Border Protection (CBP) data. However, illegal migrants have continued to enter the U.S. through alternative modes of entry, such as the CBP One app and the CHNV program, concealing the full magnitude of the current crisis.
