Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton sued a doctor Thursday for allegedly providing illegal sex change procedures to nearly two dozen minors.

May Lau, medical director of the adolescent and young adult clinic at Children’s Medical Center Dallas, used “experimental” transgender medical procedures on at least 21 kids, including some as young as 14 years old, the lawsuit alleges.

“Texas passed a law to protect children from these dangerous unscientific medical interventions that have irreversible and damaging effects,” Paxton said in a statement. “Doctors who continue to provide these harmful ‘gender transition’ drugs and treatments will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.”

The state supreme court upheld Texas’ ban on sex change procedures for minors in June. (RELATED: Supreme Court Will Have To Consider Biden Admin’s Meddling In Medical Guidelines Pushing Child Sex Changes For Kids)

“The debate in Texas on the legality of dangerous and experimental medical procedures seeking to transition or affirm a child’s belief that their gender identity is inconsistent with their biological sex is over,” the lawsuit states.

Lau, characterized in the lawsuit as a “radical gender activist,” allegedly falsified medical records, prescriptions and billing records to mislead pharmacies and insurance providers, making it look like prescriptions for hormone therapy were not for supporting a child’s attempt to transition to the opposite sex.

For a 15-year-old patient, Lau allegedly used a diagnostic code of endocrine disorder to bill the insurance company for a “puberty blocker device.” The lawsuit alleges she is using the billing code to “falsely represent that she’s treating patients for an unspecified endocrine disorder, when in fact she is transitioning their biological sex or affirming their belief that their gender identity is inconsistent with their biological sex.”

In a 2020 presentation cited in the lawsuit, Lau and her assistant acknowledge they “have had youth in our clinic come in who have had top surgery before they have even started hormone treatment.”

Children’s Medical Center Dallas did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
