Charlamagne Says Trump’s Ad On Harris Supporting Taxpayer-Funded Sex Changes For Prisoners ‘Was Impactful’

Radio host Charlamagne Tha God on Monday said former President Donald Trump’s ad accusing Vice President Kamala Harris of backing taxpayer-funded sex changes for prisoners impacted him.

Harris has previously expressed support for tax-payer funded sex changes for transgender prison inmates and illegal immigrants. Charlamagne, on “The Breakfast Club,” called the Trump campaign advertisement “effective,” particularly because of how it aired during weekend football games, adding that he doesn’t want his tax dollars funding sex changes for these individuals. “I’ll tell you what, that ad they was running during the football games this weekend claiming the vice president supports funding gender transition surgeries for all prison inmates and migrants in the U.S., that was nuts,” Charlamagne said.

Co-host DJ Envy joked that he “wouldn’t say ‘nuts,'” but called it “crazy.”

“I don’t know if it was the backdrop of football, but when you hear the narrator say Kamala supports taxpayer-funded sex changes for prisoners, that one line I was like, ‘Hell no, I don’t want my taxpayer dollars going to that.’ That ad was effective,” Charlamagne continued, adding, “It literally said that Kamala supports taxpayer-funded sex changes for prisoners, and it talks about how, you know, she supports funding gender transition surgeries for all prison inmates and migrants in the United States. That ad was impactful … I’m not going to lie, I was like, ‘Damn.'”

Charlamagne then asserted that the reason for the ad’s effectiveness was that “it was during football” and that he would not have paid attention to it “if it was any other time.”

Harris said she worked “behind the scenes” during her term as California attorney general to secure sex change surgeries for California inmates despite the fact that it was against state policy at the time, according to the Washington Blade.

The vice president also backed taxpayer-funded sex change surgeries for migrants in Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention, according to a 2019 campaign questionnaire unearthed by CNN. Harris was a U.S. senator for California and a Democratic presidential primary contender at the time and told the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) that she would ensure that individuals in prison and immigration detention would have access to “comprehensive treatment associated with gender transition” if she were to assume the presidency.

“It is important that transgender individuals who rely on the state for care receive the treatment they need, which includes access to treatment associated with gender transition,” Harris told the ACLU. She also touted her previous work to influence the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation to offer gender transition surgery to state inmates.

“I support policies ensuring that federal prisoners and detainees are able to obtain medically necessary care for gender transition, including surgical care, while incarcerated or detained,” she continued. “Transition treatment is a medical necessity, and I will direct all federal agencies responsible for providing essential medical care to deliver transition treatment.”
