Republican Rep. Andy Biggs of Arizona blasted Special Counsel David Weiss on Wednesday, saying the prosecutor was “obfuscating” during his testimony about the probe into Hunter Biden.

Weiss testified in front of the House Judiciary Committee on Tuesday about the investigation into Hunter Biden’s business dealings and potential violations of tax and gun laws. Biggs, a member of the House Judiciary Committee, accused Weiss of not directly answering questions from members.

“The whistleblowers are not lying, they’re telling the truth and what we saw from David Weiss was obfuscation, dodging, ducking and weaving,” Biggs told “Fox & Friends” co-host Brian Kilmeade. “He only would agree to talk about his authority, and even that he was — he was trying to kind of feather that out a little bit. So he wouldn’t tell you exactly.”

IRS whistleblowers Gary Shapley and Joseph Zeigler testified about interference with the investigation into Hunter Biden during a July 19 hearing held by the House Oversight Committee. Hunter Biden pleaded not guilty to two misdemeanor tax charges and a felony gun charge after a plea bargain announced June 20 collapsed.

“I asked him who gave you the authority and when and how? But you know, it just never really materialized,” Biggs said. “But what he did is on every question of substances, he said, well, like it’s ongoing investigation. You know, we — you know, that it was some kind of prerogative that we can’t talk about.”

“The reality, Brian, is he did not want to answer these questions, but actually in so doing he kind of confirms what we suspect, and that is his relationship with the Biden family,” Biggs continued. “Don’t forget he got special treatment from the Delaware senators to get reappointed. He was the only one of the Trump appointees that was not dismissed by Biden. Why was that?”

Attorney General Merrick Garland announced the appointment of Weiss as special counsel on Aug. 11.
