A Tennessee science museum is hosting its first ever “family friendly” drag show as a part of its “Summer of Pride” program, according to the museum website.
The Museum of Science and History in Memphis, Tennessee, which is a “place to explore, discover and experience history, science, culture and nature” is promoting its “Memphis Proud Drag Show And Dance Party” on Sept. 23 to be “family friendly” and open to all ages, according to the museum website. The event will feature seven performers including “drag clown” Barbie Wyre, who is hosting the event, Angel Fartz and Siren Moss, who will “manifest the art of drag.”
Tickets for the event are priced at $20 with doors opening at 6 p.m. featuring a cash bar and appetizers, the museum website stated. Following the performance, the museum is hosting an “intergenerational dance party” for everyone to “come together.”
Leading up to the drag show, the museum is also hosting its “Cocktails And Chemistry With The Blue Suede Sisters” on Sept. 16 which highlights “drag nuns,” according to the website. After mingling with the “drag nuns,” attendees conduct chemistry science experiments in a lab.
Currently, the museum is hosting an exhibit titled “Memphis Proud: The Resilience of a Southern LGBTQ+” the museum website said. The exhibit features stories from the local LGBTQ community and the “struggle for LGBTQ+ rights and the AIDS crisis.”
The museum also features the traveling exhibit “Rise Up: Stonewall and the LGBTQ Rights Movement” which displays how pop culture influenced the LGBTQ movement and the Stonewall riots of 1969, the website stated.
The museum and Wyre did not immediately respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment.
