Maryland Republican Gov. Larry Hogan said Monday that he tested positive for a breakthrough case of COVID-19.
Hogan, who was vaccinated and boosted, said that he was asymptomatic, and he urged Marylanders to get vaccinated as cases rise and the Omicron variant becomes more dominant.
“This morning, as part of my regular testing routine, I received a positive rapid test for COVID-19,” Hogan said. “I have been vaccinated and boosted, and I am feeling fine at the moment.”
Hogan’s announcement comes as cases and deaths are again increasing across the country, though deaths are rising at a slower rate. Sens. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts and Cory Booker of New Jersey and Rep. Jason Crow of Colorado, all Democrats, confirmed positive cases over the weekend as well.
