A Maryland teenager who is the prime suspect in the murder of his 5-year-old half-sister was arrested in Ohio, police announced.
Stephen Jarrod Davis, 17, was identified as the suspect in Anaya Jannah Abdul’s death Saturday based on evidence at the crime scene, police said, according to ABC News. Anaya’s death was officially ruled a homicide and determined to be caused by multiple sharp force injuries on Sunday, ABC News reported.
“For a child to have that much rage on another child, why?” said Lt. Jackie Davis of Anne Arundel County Police Department, NBC affiliate WBAL-TV reported. “I think that’s the main question all of us are asking.”

Ohio police were able to locate Davis and arrest him after Maryland homicide detectives obtained an arrest warrant charging him as an adult, according to WBAL-TV. Davis was charged with first degree murder, according to the outlet.
“Another question is where was he going?” Davis continued, according to WBAL-TV. “We don’t know if he had family out there. We don’t know if he was just aimlessly driving away. We’re not sure yet.”
The motives for the crime are still undetermined and the investigation is still ongoing, according to ABC News.
“It’s not easy to see somebody dead. It’s not easy for anybody to see anybody dead,” Davis said, WBAL-TV reported. “When you make that a child, it makes it worse. And when you make it a child by the hands of another child, there really are no words for that.”
