Leader Of 2016 Wildlife Refuge Takeover Ammon Bundy Arrested At Idaho State Capitol For Protest

Ammon Bundy, the leader of the 2016 Oregon standoff against federal agents, was arrested at the Idaho State Capitol on Tuesday after a protest.
Bundy was reportedly handcuffed and wheeled out of the building in a chair after refusing to leave following a state legislature hearing on coronavirus-related bills, according to NPR.

Bundy told media he was unhappy that “citizen journalists” being ordered to leave the hearing earlier and said “I’m going to sit right here” in the building before his arrest, according to the Idaho Press.
Bundy was charged with misdemeanor trespassing and obstructing officers, Lynn Hightower of the Idaho State Police told NPR. Three others were also arrested after refusing to leave, the Idaho Press reported.
In 2016, the activist led a 41-day occupation of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge in Oregon to protest the prison sentence of two Oregon ranchers convicted for burning federal lands.
