A white supremacist was indicted Thursday for threatening to kill President Donald Trump and members of a Connecticut synagogue.
Gary Gravelle was indicted in Connecticut federal court on 16 criminal counts including “maliciously conveying false information about explosives, false information and hoax as well as threats to the president,” according to the New Haven Register.
Gravelle, who goes by the name Roland Prejean, also threatened to kill members of the Congregation Adath Israel synagogue located in Middletown, Connecticut, the Register reported.
“I, Gary Gravelle … as a faithful soldier of the AKA, am coming to KILL Donald Trump,” he wrote in a letter to the president. Gravelle, a member of the American Knights of Anarchy, was arrested in September 2018 for violating the terms of his release after being convicted in 2013 on similar charges dating back to 2010.
This is not the first time someone has issued a credible death threat against Trump. The president was the target of an assassination plot attributed to ISIS less than one year into his term. The U.S. Secret Service managed to foil the attempt, media reports show.
ISIS’ death threat came shortly after the president bragged on Twitter about capturing several of the country’s most dangerous terrorists. The ISIS leaders were captured in May during a joint-sting operation conducted by American, Iraqi and Turkish forces.
Gravelle’s death threat also comes a few months after a man killed at least 49 people while opening fire inside two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand.
