MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough continued to make predictions about President Donald Trump’s political career, on “Morning Joe” Tuesday, and said he’d “lose badly” if he decided to run for re-election in 2020.
“Let me say it right now, put it on tape, people can run it after the election in 2020. First of all, I don’t think Donald Trump’s going to run, but if he does run, he’s going to lose Pennsylvania, he’s going to lose Wisconsin, he’s going to lose Michigan,” Scarborough said.
“He’s going to lose badly,” he continued. “He can’t expand his base because he refuses to expand his base. He’s addicted to the [former White House strategist] Steve Bannon 33 percent solution, isn’t he?”
This isn’t the first time Scarborough has prognosticated about Trump’s 2020 chances. He claimed in October Trump never wanted to be president in the first place and would decline to run for a second term. He also told Democratic challengers on Dec. 5 to prepare to run against U.S. Ambassador Nikki Haley instead of Trump.
“So [Trump’s] playing this role as a cartoonish right-wing, race-baiting Republican. It’s just this branding exercise that’s going to keep him at 33 percent,” Scarborough said Tuesday.
