Only Democrats Would Accuse A Woman Of Sexism To Win An Election, Says Ed Henry

Chief national correspondent for Fox News, Ed Henry, said on “Fox & Friends” Friday that only the modern Democratic Party would accuse a woman of sexism to hold on to power.

Henry was discussing Democratic Rep. Marcia Fudge of Ohio and her possible challenge to House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi for the speaker’s gavel, before he criticized certain factions for making the race about gender.

“Only in the modern Democratic Party could you have charges of sexism when it’s potentially a woman against a woman,” Henry said. “I mean, does that really make sense?”

“Yes, Nancy Pelosi is right that 14 out of the 17 Democrats who are signing this letter saying we want a new speaker basically are men,” he continued. “They realize that a white male going up against Nancy Pelosi … it’s going to be hard.”

Henry said the idea of Fudge as speaker has energized the House black caucus, along with other rank and file members who think it’s time for a change in leadership.

“They found Marcia Fudge. She’s an African-American woman. She’d be the first black speaker and there’s some in the black caucus saying, this is kind of interesting. Maybe we do need a new face in the Democratic Party,” he said. “At the end of the day, Nancy Pelosi is likely to have the votes. It all comes down to money frankly. She raised so much money for this party and has for more than a decade, that a lot of members are — sort of bound to her.”

“She’s delivered for them and they’re now likely to give the votes,” Henry said.

“Nancy Pelosi is going to start passing things because she’ll have votes and it will die in the Senate,” he said. “Or if it gets through the Senate, President Trump won’t sign it and then you’re going to have folks like Ocasio-Cortez complaining not about the Republicans — but about the Democrats not being left enough and not delivering.”
