New Jersey GOP Senate candidate Bob Hugin said Friday on “Fox & Friends” that his race against Democratic Sen. Bob Menendez is a chance for voters to “correct the embarrassment” Menendez has caused.
“I think the people of New Jersey know they deserve better. And they do deserve better,” Hugin said.
“Here’s a guy who the Senate ethics committee bipartisanly said violated federal law, disgraced the Senate, abused the power of his office and has delivered so little for the people of New Jersey,” he said.
Hugin said he’s confident the race will be close, adding that his campaign’s internal polling has him leading Menendez by two percentage points. He also said New Jersey voters have a clear choice between “right versus wrong.”
“I think our last internal poll we had [I] was actually up 2. On our internal polls, the last poll we did. The momentum is so palpable on the ground” Hugin said. “People in New Jersey are realizing, finally we’ll have a chance to do something and correct this embarrassment that we’ve had. Let’s not over-complicate it. This is right versus wrong. This guy has embarrassed and abused the power of his office and delivered so little for the people. It’s time for change.”
