President Donald Trump’s son Eric Trump answered specific questions about the rumored business deals between the Trump Organization and Saudi Arabia Friday, making it clear that it has “zero” financial ties in the country.
“Let’s talk about the money between Saudi Arabia and the Saudi royal family in your family … Let’s just go through it. Is it true the Saudi government bought an entire floor of Trump World Tower for $4[.5] million, which would have been a great deal, by the way?” “Outnumbered” co-host Melissa Francis asked Trump on Fox News.
“Twenty years ago, maybe, when we built that building,” Trump responded.
“Trump sold a yacht to a Saudi prince for $20 million?” Francis asked Trump.
“In the mid-1980s,” Trump said.
“Revenue from room rentals — the Trump International Hotel in Manhattan went up 13 percent in the first three months of 2018 due in large part to the Saudi crown prince?” Francis asked Trump.
“To compression. Because the Saudi crown prince stayed at the Plaza Hotel … he didn’t stay at our building. But what happens is, when they take over an entire hotel and there’s four hotels in midtown Manhattan, then it creates extra demand in the market.”
“We have zero relationship with Saudi Arabia. We have zero. We have no holdings in Saudi, we don’t know anybody in Saudi,” Trump said. “We have zero financial relationships with Saudi Arabia. It’s a narrative the Democrats — they like to throw around letters.”
“Every three seconds, we get a letter from Elijah Cummings about something. ‘We want to know the deep financial ties you have to Saudi Arabia.’ I’m reading this letter at my desk and saying, ‘We don’t have any financial ties with Saudi Arabia — we have nothing to do with Saudi Arabia.’ By the way, four days before I actually get a copy of the letter, CNN has it, The Washington Post has it — I mean, this is the evil game that they play.”
The comments come after Saudi Arabian journalist Jamal Khashoggi disappeared on Oct. 2.
