White House adviser Kellyanne Conway revealed on Sunday that she empathizes with the sexual assault victims protesting the nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court because she too is a victim.

“I feel very empathetic, frankly, for victims of sexual assault, sexual harassment, and rape. I’m a victim of sexual assault,” Conway told Jake Tapper on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

“I don’t expect Judge Kavanaugh or Jake Tapper or [Sen.] Jeff Flake or anybody to be held responsible for that. You have to be responsible for your own conduct,” Conway continued. “This is not Bill Cosby. Those comparisons you hear on your network are a disgrace and the anchor’s should have called them out.”

Kavanaugh is accused by multiple women of sexual misconduct. The Senate Judiciary Committee held a hearing on Thursday to hear testimony from Kavanaugh and Christine Blasey Ford, the woman accusing him of sexual assault more than 35 years ago.

During the hearing, women identifying as sexual assault victims have protested in the halls of the Senate office building, as well as around the country.

Both Flake and Sen. Ted Cruz were cornered in elevators as protesters demanded they support women by voting against Kavanaugh’s nomination.

Conway came to the defense of Kavanaugh noting that their anger towards him is misplaced.

“I want those women who were sexually assaulted, the other day who were confronting Jeff Flake — God bless them, but go blame the perpetrator,” Conway said. “That’s who’s responsible for sexual assaults, the people who commit them.”
