Former Republican House Speaker Newt Gingrich shamed Senate Democrats for using Christine Blasey Ford as a pawn, on “Fox & Friends” Friday, and predicted more than one Democrat will vote to confirm Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court.
“I think he will be [confirmed]. In fact, I think more than one Democrat will end up voting ‘yes,'” Gingrich said. “When [Democratic Sen. Heidi] Heitkamp comes from North Dakota, which voted Republican in 16 out of the last 17 presidential races for the more conservative judges … [Democratic Sen. Joe] Donnelly comes from Indiana that voted 15 out of 17 times. You’ve got [Democratic Sen. Jon] Tester — comes from Montana, which voted 15 out of 17 times.”
Gingrich also said he believes Democrats have victimized Ford in an effort to push their political agenda.
“I believe Dr. Ford has been victimized by the Democrats,” he said. “Because they deliberately set this whole thing up. It didn’t leak out. This whole thing was a setup. It was a deliberate staff-driven effort to have something explode at the last minute. If [California Democratic Sen. Dianne] Feinstein had walked in with the letter the day she got it, it would have been part of the normal process.”
“You wouldn’t have had this psycho drama of the last two weeks,” Gingrich concluded. “The fact is when you get under the emotional moment and I think she was very effective emotionally — when you get in there, you start looking at the facts. Who corroborates it? No one. When did it actually occur? Not sure. Where did it actually occur? Not sure.”
