The House Intelligence Committee voted Friday to release dozens of transcripts of interviews from its investigation into Russia meddling in the 2016 election.
The committee conducted 73 interviews during its 15-month investigation, which has since concluded, and found no evidence of collusion between President Donald Trump’s campaign and the Russian government.
Most of those interviewed in the investigation are or were prominent figures in the Trump administration as well as former President Barack Obama’s administration.
A few high-profile interviewees from Trump’s circle included Jared Kushner, Hope Hicks, Donald Trump Jr., Roger Stone and Steve Bannon.
The committee also conducted interviews into whether the Obama administration illegally unmasked members of the Trump transition team. A few of these interviewees included James Clapper, Loretta Lynch, Samantha Power and Andrew McCabe.
House Intelligence Committee Chairman Rep. Devin Nunes, a Republican from California, called for the transcripts to be made public back on Sept. 16 after the top Democrat on the committee, Rep. Adam Schiff of California, wrote to Nunes in May requesting the documents be released.
After the bipartisan vote Friday, the transcripts will go to the Director of the Office of National Intelligence for a review of any classified material. The process could take weeks given the number of transcripts involved.
There are reportedly five transcripts that will not be made public, according to The Washington Post, from former FBI director James Comey, former NSA Director Mike Rogers, and former CIA Director John Brennan.
The committee also decided to keep private interviews from GOP Rep. Dana Rohrabacher of California and Democratic Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz of Florida, who served Chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee when its emails were hacked.
The Russia investigation being run on behalf of the Department of Justice by special counsel Robert Mueller is still continuing.
