The contentious Senate confirmation hearings for Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination to the Supreme Court kicked off Tuesday, and people around Washington, D.C. shared their opinions with The Daily Caller News Foundation on whether or not he should be confirmed.
One man — a self-identified Republican — said he hadn’t read much about Kavanaugh. “But what I have heard on the news — MSNBC, CNN, I don’t listen to Fox much — I’m just not happy with him at all,” he told The DCNF.
Supporters of President Donald Trump expressed their desire to see the president succeed with getting this nomination through. When asked what some thought of the Democratic senators and rowdy protesters trying to obstruct the hearing, one man called it “posturing” and “pathetic.”
One of the pro-choice protesters — sporting an “I Am What’s At Stake” shirt funded by NARAL Pro-Choice America — was willing to speak on camera about her concerns with Kavanaugh, most of which were rooted in her belief that he nominated by an illegitimate president. She doesn’t believe Trump should be allowed to nominate a lifelong justice to the Supreme Court until after the midterm election and further investigations conclude.
