Arlington National Cemetery Evacuated Over Bomb Threat

Arlington National Cemetery was evacuated on Wednesday morning in Virginia following a bomb threat.
“Arlington National Cemetery officials and [Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall] emergency services are currently responding to a #BombThreat at the cemetery,” the cemetery’s official account tweeted. “All families, visitors and employees have been evacuated safely from all public buildings and work areas while the threat is being investigated.”

The cemetery, which buries approximately 7,000 veterans and their families each year, had 12 funerals scheduled for Wednesday morning, according to Stars and Stripes. It is unclear if any of the scheduled funerals have been postponed.
“We are working diligently to have the afternoon funeral schedule as soon as we get the cemetery completely safe,” said Barbara Lewandrowski, a public affairs officer for Arlington National Cemetery.
