Princeton University ranked number one for the third consecutive year in a list released Monday documenting the best value colleges for 2018 in the country.
The school was the only Ivy League institution to make the top 10 of MONEY’s 2018 survey. The University of Pennsylvania, Yale University and Harvard University took the 14th, 15th and 16th spots, respectively.
Princeton graduates have average early career earnings of $69,800.
California schools comprised half of the top 10 universities. Stanford and four University of California system schools — San Diego, Irvine, Los Angeles and Berkeley — all fell within the top seven. Graduates from these schools have average early career earnings of $73,300, $58,600, $54,900, $57,500 and $65,400, respectively.
The Massachusetts Institute of Technology, CUNY Baruch College, the University of Michigan — Ann Arbor and the University of Virginia rounded out the top 10.
MONEY also rates the colleges by their estimated cost to attend with and without financial aid. The average grant provided by several institutions knocks the cost of attendance down by a significant rate. Stanford students who do not receive aid pay approximately $70,800 for the 2018-2019 school year, but only $17,900 with the average grant provided by the school. Ninety-eight percent of students who qualify for financial aid get grants at the California school. Similar metrics are available for the other 727 schools on MONEY’s list.
The survey site also measures average debt accumulated by students attending each school. University of Michigan graduates sustain the highest amount of debt within the top 10 schools — $20,100, on average — while CUNY graduates must pay back an average of $10,800.
