Hollywood filmmaker Spike Lee appeared on CNN’s “Anderson Cooper 360” Thursday and trashed President Donald Trump as a racist, while referring to him as “Agent Orange.”
Lee wore a shirt during the interview that read, “God Protect Robert Mueller,” as he attacked the White House for spreading a message of division.
“This guy we’ve got in the White House is not even a dog whistle, it’s a bullhorn,” Lee said. “Then, also, Anderson, we’ve seen a rise to the right. It’s not just America, it’s worldwide. So this thing has happened worldwide.”
Lee also said racists feel emboldened by the Trump White House and have been given the “green light” to show their hate in public.
“They got the green light from the White House,” Lee said. “We would be here three hours just doing research saying all the hateful statements he’s said.”
Cooper asked Lee if he would ever consider sitting down with Trump to have a discussion and Lee emphatically rejected the idea.
“No,” Lee replied. “I don’t use his name either. It’s Agent Orange. Got it from Busta Rhymes, shout-out to Brooklyn, Busta.”
Agent Orange is a defoliant chemical used during the Vietnam War that caused severe health problems to anyone exposed to it.
Cooper asked if Lee considers Trump America’s president and Lee once again said “no.”
“No. Might be Putin,” Lee responded. “You look kind of shook, Anderson.”
