A knife-wielding attacker went on a rampage on a public bus in Lübeck, Germany Friday, wounding more than a dozen people, according to multiple reports.

At least 14 people were injured, two seriously in Friday’s attack, which took place in the Kücknitz neighborhood. The suspect, reportedly an Iranian male in his 30s, was arrested by local authorities, the Telegraph reported, revealing that the police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the attack.

The attacker was armed with a kitchen knife, according to observers, the Lübecker Nachrichten reports. He dropped a backpack, pulled out his weapon, and started his bloody assault on the passengers. His backpack was reportedly smoldering as he attempted to flee the scene. The pack was cleared by local authorities as the suspect was taken into custody.

“There is currently a major police deployment in Luebeck,” local police wrote on Twitter, adding, “We are examining the situation and will give more information later.”

Germany has suffered several serious knife attacks in recent years, with some suspecting terrorism in a certain cases. The specific details for the latest attack are still emerging.
