Democratic Rep. Beto O’Rourke spent Independence Day at Willie Nelson’s July 4th picnic and concert in Austin, Texas.
The Texas congressman got on stage with Nelson and performed a few marijuana-themed songs, starting with “Roll Me Up and Smoke Me When I Die,” reported The Dallas Morning News. He then followed up the act with a rendition of “It’s All Going To Pot” and continued on with a few more tunes.
The candidate for U.S. Senate formally played in a pop punk band in the 1990s, telling Rolling Stone “I wasn’t very good at it.”
Both Nelson and O’Rourke are outspoken advocates for marijuana legalization.
Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz, meanwhile, spent the holiday at a patriotic red, white and blue parade in Rockwell during the day, followed by an event in Sulpher Springs where he visited the Hopkins County Veterans Memorial and met with more Texas residents.
