A noted Black Lives Matter activist misleadingly accused NRA spokeswoman Dana Loesch of calling for journalists to be beaten to death.

Shaun King tweeted “The NRA’s @DLoesch has absolutely called for journalists to be beaten to death,” Friday morning, following a shooting at an Annapolis newsroom that left five dead the prior day.

In the 49-second clip that King posted, Loesch is heard saying she’s happy to see the mainstream media “curb stomped.” The full video provides additional context making it clear that Loesch was referring to President Donald Trump rhetorically destroying the biased media during his 2016 presidential campaign.

King later tried comparing the conservative commentator to a mass killer, saying “this man literally said the exact same thing” in reference to the Annapolis shooter. Loesch fired back multiple rounds of tweets clarifying her position. She defended herself saying “King is nothing except malicious and false accusations. Shame on you for using a tragedy to smear others.”

Loesch has repeatedly condemned both violence and mob outrage, including that which King has incited in the past.

King has previously been slammed by the media for race baiting; he most notably pushed a false narrative in May 2018 claiming that a police officer raped a black woman.

Loesch has frequently defended her 2016 comments, which are often taken out of context, and again she noted “I loathe bias but defend natural rights — including a free press. You’re a ghoul attempting to blame me for this psycho who took his obsession out on a newspaper staff.”
