Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi reportedly called for the “immediate” execution of all terrorists on death row on Thursday.

Al-Abadi issued this punishment to “terrorists condemned to death whose sentences have passed the decisive stage,” according to AFP News.

Iraqi authorities have detained or imprisoned at least 19,000 people accused of having links to the Islamic State (ISIS) or other terror-related offenses, according to a March report by the Associated Press, with at least 3,000 of them sentenced to death row.

The AP claims the numbers come from a leaked spreadsheet of 27,849 people imprisoned as of January.

The Ministry of Justice in Iraq announced in April they had executed 13 individuals, 11 for terror convictions. This followed announcements of death sentences for 15 Turkish women after finding them guilty of membership in ISIS in February. Thirty-eight prisoners convicted of affiliation with ISIS were executed in December 2017, with 42 executed that September.

Iraq was also accused by Human Rights Watch in 2017 of forcibly transferring hundreds of families they accused of being linked to ISIS to a closed “rehabilitation camp,” but have since been moved to “regular” camps.
