A suicide bomber killed 13 and wounded more than 30 on Monday outside a rehabilitation and development ministry in the capital city of Kabul, Afghanistan.
ISIS has since claimed responsibility for the attack, according to its Amaq news agency, but there is no evidence to support this claim, Reuters reported.
“Woman, children and employees of the (rehabilitation) ministry are among the victims,” Najib Danish, spokesman for the interior ministry, told Reuters.
This attack comes a week after ISIS claimed another suicide bombing in Kabul that killed 14 and wounded 20. The attack occurred near a large tented compound where about 2,000 Muslim clerics were gathered to declare suicide bombings forbidden by Islam, according to the Washington Post.
Although ISIS has claimed responsibility, it is believed to be more likely the work of the Haqqani network, a group affiliated with the Taliban, security officials told Reuters.
Afghan Taliban members announced on Saturday a three-day ceasefire over the Muslim Eid holiday after the Afghan government declared its own weeklong cease-fire against the Taliban. It is not clear when the Taliban ceasefire will begin.
